All parents want their kids to do well in everything whether it may be at school, community activities, sports, relationship with peers, or other school commitments. And the best way to help your children become an achiever by simply taking a closer look on their daily diet.

Not many parents are aware that there are certain brain foods that can boost your kid's brain growth as well as improve brain functions. Since the brain is the first of the body's organs to absorb the nutrients of the foods eaten, feeding your children with brain foods can definitely help boost your child's potential.

The following are five of the known superfoods good for brain growth:

Salmon

Salmon is a perfect source of omega-3 fatty acids, EPA, and DHA. These nutrients are essential in brain growth and functioning. Recent research showed that adults and children who always have fatty fish like salmon in their daily diets have sharper minds and are quite good at tests that require mental skills. Have your kids eat more salmon by preparing salmon salad served on a whole grain bread. As for soup, you can include canned salmon to broccoli soup and chopped broccoli. You can also prepare salmon patties and serve them over brown rice.

Eggs

Eggs are also perfect for your child's brain, for these are great source of protein. Take note also that egg yolks are rich in choline, which is perfect for memory development.

Make it a point to have eggs and toast at the table every breakfast. If your child is running late for school, prepare a quick breakfast of egg burrito as you send your kid off to school.

Peanut butter

For Vitamin E, peanuts and peanut butter are perfect sources of Vitamin E. It is important for your kid to have Vitamin E for this can protect nervous membranes. Peanuts are also rich in thiamine, which helps the nervous system as well as the brain use glucose for energy.

There will probably no problem in making your child consume more peanut butter. Prepare a peanut butter banana sandwich for a change. For dessert, you can slice apples and dip them in peanut butter.

Oats or oatmeals

Among the most popular grains for brain are oats, for these provide excellent fuel or energy for the brain, which is very much needed by your kid in the morning. Oats or oatmeals are also loaded with Vitamin E, B, zinc, and potassium, nutrients that can make your child's body and brain to function well.

The good thing about oatmeal is that your kid will love it regardless of the add ons you put on it. Top it with dried or fresh fruits, sliced almonds, cinnamon, or apple sauce.
